An instructional program designed to integrate on-campus study with practical hands-on work experience in the physical sciences. In conjunction with class seminars, the individual students will set specific goals and objectives in the scientific study of inanimate objects, processes of matter and energy, and associated phenomena.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able: To use both conceptual and numerical techniques to solve physics and engineering problems. To understand the concepts relating to systems engineering. To understand the fundamentals of materials science. To perform a hypothetical cost analysis. To be aware of the special engineering challenges of spaceflight. To understand the basic principles of disaster recovery and risk management.
