HUMA 1301 - Introduction to the Humanities I

An exploration of human values significant to western civilization, including influences of Asian and African cultures through great works of philosophy, architecture, literature, music and the visual arts from prehistory to the twentieth century. Interdisciplinary, multi-perspective assessment of factors critical to the formulation of values of the individual and society.

Measurable Learning Outcomes:
  1. Heighten the student’s awareness of the philosophical and artistic sources of western culture.
  2. Enlarge the student’s arts and philosophy vocabularies.
  3. Encourage the students to examine their personal values in light of their cultural background while deepening their respect for other countries’ value systems.
