Study of the principles of molecular and classical genetics and the function and transmission of hereditary material. Includes linkage, chromosome mapping, the central role of DNA and its function in the cell, as well as population genetics and its importance in evolutionary theory. 

Measurable Learning Outcomes:
Understand principles of inheritance. Describe transmission methods of hereditary materials. Understand the role of DNA and its functions within a cell. Understand the genetics at both the individual and population level. Understand evolutionary theory.
