WLDG 1337 - Introduction to Welding Metallurgy 3 credit hours. 2 lecture hours. 2 lab hours. A study of metals from the ore to the finished product. Emphasis on metal alloys, heat treating, hard surfacing, welding techniques, forging, foundry processes, and mechanical properties of metal including hardness, machinability, and ductility. Additional Fees: $30 lab fee for consumables Measurable Learning Outcomes: Describe technical terms used in metallurgy and classification of metals; identify metals and how they are processed and used in industry; and describe mechanical and physical properties, surface treatments, and heat treatment of metals.
