Requirements for an Advanced Technical Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
In order to graduate from Temple College and receive the Advanced Technical Certificate in Vascular Sonography (DSVT), the student must meet the following requirements.
- Have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree that incorporated the following courses into their curriculum:*
- College Algebra 3 credit hours MATH 1314
- College Physics must include sound waves 4 credit hours PHYS 1401 / PHYS 1407
- Composition I 3 credit hours ENGL 1301
- Anatomy and Physiology I 4 credit hours BIOL 2401
- Anatomy and Physiology II 4 credit hours BIOL 2402
- General Physiology 3 credit hours PSYC 2301
- Humanities elective (core 040, 050, 080) 3 credit hours
- You must have a minimum of a 2.0 (C) in every prerequisite course and corequisite courses. A minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (in all courses that apply toward the Diagnostic Medical Sonography prerequisite curriculum) is required for application to the DSVT program.
- If you are eligible to sit for an allied health care board exam you must have successfully challenged your boards prior to August 1, and be in good standing with the credentialing body.
*If your degree plan did not include 1-4 listed in #1 you will be required to complete those courses with a minimum of 2.0 (C) and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 prior to being considered for a seat in the DMS program.
*If your degree plan did not include 5-7 listed in #1 those courses may be taken as corequisites. You will be required to complete those courses with a minimum of 2.0 (C) and a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
In order to graduate from Temple College and receive the Advanced Technical Certificate in Sonography, the student must meet the following requirements.
- Completion of 41 SCH hours of DMS core course credit in the required sequence with a minimum of a 2.0 (C) in each course.
- Completion of the Application for Graduation by deadline date.
