Application of the performer’s use of the voice as a creative instrument of effective communication. Encourages an awareness of the need for vocal proficiency and employs techniques designed to improve the performer’s speaking abilities.
This is the same course as SPCH 1342 but can be taken for Theater credit. Credit will not be granted for both DRAM 2336 and SPCH 1342.
Measurable Learning Outcomes:
- To understand the physiology and mechanics of effective voice production with practice in articulation, pronunciation, and enunciation.
- To understand the relationship of Voice and Diction to effective communication.
- To use pitch for effective vocalization.
- To differentiate the vowel sounds.
- To understand and apply the International Phonetic Alphabet.
